Tobacco Molasses
is a product, used for smoking shisha (Hookah).
Afzal Molasses is a blend of quality
Indian tobacco leaves, molasses and international natural
flavours, giving Afzal Molasses a special flavour and
taste. It presently comes in four flavours: Apple, Mixed Fruit,
Aniseed and Strawberry.
In the beginning of the 19th century, an
Egyptian man accidentally discovered tobacco molasses while
having his dinner of bread and molasses extracted from sugarcane.
He was trying to put tobacco in the shisha, when it occurred
to him to use molasses, since it was sticky and would give
the tobacco texture. He was pleased with the results. This
process also resulted in giving a unique flavour to the smoke,
thus bringing about a new method of smoking.
It was in the 20th century that the harmful
effects of smoking cigarettes were realised. Studies to decrease
these side effects were carried out. By mid eighties, in addition
to the decrease of nicotine percentage and the ceasing of
tar totally, various flavours were added to the molasses to
give more variety to the product. With the introduction of
flavours, the product was met with acceptance not only with
Arab communities, but with people wanting a natural experience
of smoking, the world over.
